Jardin du Luxembourg
My etchings and paintings “Paris Gardens” was inspired after my experience of a 6 week residency in Paris in October 2005. I love the gardens and trees in Paris, ordered row of plantings, so symmetrical and formal, the statues, fountains, pools, pathways, stately and magnificent. I loved the wonderful, ageless gardens with incredible topiaries and trees distorted by years and years of pruning. The inventive modern landscaped gardens. All are truly sanctuaries for the people of the city. I was inspired also by the history and architectural detail in Paris. The stonework, metal and woodwork, so intricate in detail. Together with the amazing soft light of Paris, all these features help to contribute to my current etchings and paintings, that I hope will resonate with all that I felt and loved about my experiences in “The City of Light”. |
