Zen Meditation Yama
It is very hard for us mere mortals to realize
that we are living on a fiery ball, this thin crust with the molten core
beneath our feet. Mitsuo, like many others,
is afraid of fire. He wants to manipulate
it and use it as his medium.
Mitsuo loves to see metamorphosis or change in his
artwork, so he tries to capture this ephemeral process through his firing
techniques. It has become his new
language that helps him to express his own ideas.
He calls these art works ‘ceramic paintings’. They incorporate fire but also water, the
opposing element, which cools and kills fire.
His paintings represent the totality of his existence, the boundaries
between his eastern origins and his present western world. |
